The George Inn Pub in London and Life Insurance

You might be wondering how the two are related! but in 1676, very shortly after the great fires that spared the George Inn Pub of London, the establishment burned down anyway in a serious fire. It’s almost 100% certain that none of the people in the pub had life insurance at the time, as the concept of insurance in this way is only a recent development.

But by the time that Charles Dickens became a regular at the George Inn Pub where it is said that he wrote many of his stories or even thought about them, life insurance was a very popular concept and a policy that was taken out by many people. His famous story Little Dorrit refers to the pub a number of times. William Shakespeare was also a regular at the George Inn and the Globe Theatre that he established is just a short walk away as well.

As the people who died in the fire in the George Inn Pub in London would say if they could, life insurance is something that should be at the forefront of everyone’s mind when they are establishing a family. You might have a great job and a wonderful salary that lets you afford your mortgage and car payments, but at any time an accident could happen and after you pass away your wife and kids might have to become impoverished. Taking out a good life insurance policy will prevent this from happening and will allow you to live with a more comfortable peace of mind.

While you can get the best steak and kidney pie at the George Inn Pub in London, Southwark, if you choke to death on a bone or die from food poisoning and you do not  have life insurance then your dependents will be in a very grave situation.

Maybe it’s time to get some life insurance quotes?

Getting my finances in order

It’s not often you hear about web designers being financially savvy, and I will not disappoint you – me and finance have a track record of being an odd couple.

But it’s time to put that in the past and venture into the strange world of personal finance and get my own finances under control. I first started with a credit card balance transfer (apparently a smart option) and then looked at getting a higher interest savings account (again another recommended option). From here, I plan to organise a budget better, however I am happy to say I have at least made some progress!

I will let you know more of how this goes, but not too much as I know it’s not the most exciting stuff in town.
